EVENT STYLING: POP DRAG BRUNCH

When POP came to us looking for a little help to bling the place up for their Drag Brunch benefitting Nashville PRIDE, we didn't even have to think about it. Not only do we love working with the nice people at POP (see our style shoot from earlier this year here), but the space is such a perfect modern blank canvas that fits our work so, so well. Oh, and because glitter.

Our concept was simple. We didn't want to fight the stark black and white in the space, so we focused on white, a little black, lots of silvery shine, and just a touch of glittery red.  We handmade literally hundreds of white tissue and silver foil tassels to string from the ceilings, and combined those with large geometric silver mylar balloons. But, for us, the real star was the 9' x 12' backdrop we created for QDP. Those lips, man. So, so sexy.

All in all, our touches helped bring something just a little extra to POP, making it the the perfect setting for what was seriously a delicious meal and an amazing show featuring performers Brooke Lynn Heights (as Cher and Annie Lennox), ObSinity (as Reba), and Raquel Redd. Also a big thanks to Studio 16 for the lovely photographs.

EVENT STYLING: PORTER FLEA 2015 SUMMER MARKET

Excited to share our creations for the Porter Flea Summer Market held earlier this month at Track One! It all started with some really great graphics that Courtney Spencer made. We took the heavy summer vibes, that amazing milky green, and the vibrant pink and had our way with it.

While we played with shape and form for the 2014 Holiday Market decor, this time, we had our way with texture. For the 15' x 15' entry installation, we made oversized three-dimensional summer essentials - watermelons, cocktails, and lawn flamingos - in a monochromatic matte green floating at both different heights and depths in front of a shiny faceted pink foil backdrop. It's hard to fully capture all that was going on in photos - not only the scale but the depth and texture and shadows and light. Seriously...that green. So good. And that backdrop...almost like shattered glass. Obsessed. (Can we say that about our own work?) In front of it all was a ginormous hand-cut backlit "Treat Yo Self" sign, because that's what one is to do at Porter Flea after all.

Here we are - Mandy and Emily - with our entry installation...for scale. :)

We adorned the doorway into the market area with a tropical garland. Again, we combined the milky matte green with the shiny pink foil.

The photo booth...maybe one of our favorite compositions for the market with large, handmade tropical leaves and oversized props. That milky green paired so, so well with the shiny silver foil for the photos.

We also made a lot of other small details throughout the space -- including a little display for the Porter Flea merchandise.

We made a series of the three-dimensional cocktails with hand-cut letters to welcome folks to the Porter Parlour part of the market, which was sponsored by Local Honey.

It is always such a pleasure to get to work with the Porter Flea team, and we can't wait to do it again!

We'll leave you with another photo of us...this time enjoying the Smilebooth.

EVENT STYLING: POP NASHVILLE ROMANTIC WEDDING INSPIRATION

6/15/2015

Earlier this year, we teamed up with POP Nashville to showcase their very modern space in a dreamy, romantic light for potential wedding clients. It was pretty much a perfect challenge for us...finding a way to show not only a softer side of POP but also a slightly more romantic side of Craftcourse (with our flair for big geometrics and shiny foils and whatnot). We created dozens of handmade pastel and gold paper air plants to go with Bright Event Productions' gorgeous crystal chandeliers and marquee AMORE lights and Classic Party Rentals' traditional white chairs, soft sea foam linens, and ornate china patterns, and it was all beautifully captured by Frenzel Studios. We also used our handmade tillandsias to create a completely unique floating installation above a cozy seating area. We stayed true to our Craftcourse style - outside the box, handmade, and completely one-of-a-kind - to bring a new perspective on romantic florals. Check out all the lovely images of our work below.

EVENT STYLING: PAPER PARTY 2015

6/15/2015

As you may know, Mandy contributes a monthly DIY blog post for the stationery- and entertainment-focused blog Oh So Beautiful Paper (OSBP). For the last two years, Mandy has also tagged along with OSBP's editor Nole to the National Stationery Show in New York to help photograph booths and throw Nole's big Paper Party bash for folks in the stationery industry.

We were honored to contribute a few Craftcourse elements to this year's Paper Party. We created an 8' hand-painted, hand-cut party banner with hand-sewn sequin details to accompany the gift bag table featuring tote bags custom-designed by Rifle Paper Co. exclusively for Paper Party 2015. Some pretty good company, eh? We also used our gold paper air plants - a DIY Mandy shared on OSBP no less - to adorn brightly-colored clusters of mini honeycomb balls. So, so cute.

See below for a few photos of our creations captured by Charlie-Juliet Photography for Oh So Beautiful Paper. Be sure to check out Nole's full recap here and here to see loads more photos and read about the details and sponsors behind all of the lovely elements of the party.

EVENT STYLING: PENELOPE'S FIRST BIRTHDAY

6/8/2015

If you follow us on Instagram, you know that we've been knee deep in shiny foil and milky green paint for last weekend's Porter Flea. With so many projects on our plate, we've been remiss to post photos from a first birthday party that we styled back in April.

We combined 2-D cut paper flowers of all sizes with geometric paper garlands for a feminine theme that wasn't too sweet. A nice little change of pace for us. We handcrafted everything on this one from the cut paper invitations to the party hat and onesie that the woman of the hour - Penelope - wore for her one year photos. Other details were an Instax photo booth, a balloon photo display of Penelope's monthly photos (Instax photos, no less), a handmade cake topper, and the requisite outdoor decor to let guests know they'd arrived at the right place.  I'm not even kidding - we even baked for this one! So, please, enjoy these pics!
